I just got an Epson R200 printer. For less than $100... At Staples.

I was working on a project converting about 8 hours of home movies to DVDs for a client and he wanted 6 copies of the 6 DVDs. It seemed unreasonable to use hand lettering on these gifts for his children. And paper stick-on labels are never a good idea.

The Epson R200 printer is not the best photo printer around, but it works really fine for creating DVD labels. Here are some examples of the artwork I've done for DVDs.

I tend to layout the DVD image using Canvas [similar to Adobe Illustrator] and then transfer it to the Epson CD printer software. The Epson software does have a very nice feature of allowing the text to be circular to follow the curve of the disk however.
